He said: “On August 6, the Command received a distress call that the palace of Gurku Town located 10 kilometres from Mararaba main town in Karu Local Council had been invaded by men suspected to be kidnappers.
“Upon receipt of the information, the CP deployed a combined team of police operatives and a vigilante group to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the chief and his wife were abducted to an unknown destination.
“He, however, assured that the CP has further deployed additional men of the tactical team, the anti-kidnapping unit, and men from the Karu area Command to the scene.
“Efforts are ongoing to rescue the chief and his wife unhurt. The public will be kept abreast as events unfold.”
Meanwhile, a resident of Gurku, Suleiman Adamu, told newsmen that the abductors, who came in their large numbers, on Sunday at about 9:50p.m., invaded the palace of the Emir and started shooting sporadically.
He said attempts by palace guards and other security operatives to foil the attack left some of them wounded.
