Gunmen have killed three farmers in Taraba State. Confirming the tragedy, yesterday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Taraba Command, Abdullahi Usman, said the incident occurred on Tuesday in Kunkwa village of Yangtu Special Development Area.

The victims, whose names were given as Rimamskep Atenji, Andekwab Ashasim and ElKannah Akyara, were reportedly killed by the bandits on their way to the farm.

Usman said: “Three farmers were attacked and killed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani bandits in Yangtu Special Development Area of Taraba.” The command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, he said, have put in place mechanisms to assist in tracking down the perpetrators.

He also beckoned individuals or groups with information that would facilitate the bandits’ arrest to reach out to the command. Corroborating the police, Coordinator of the Special Development Area, Emmanuel Madaki, agreed that the victims were on their way to their farms when the bandits hacked them down.

The victims, he added, were of the Kuteb extraction. He added: “It is unfortunate that attacks are still happening on the Kuteb people when a peace accord between Fulani and Kuteb people is in place.” The chairman called on the state government to collaborate with security agencies to end the incessant attacks in the area.
