A four-year-old baby, Mirabel Ilemoh, diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, is desperately seeking N5,914,610 million for treatment.

The amount is for a four-year chemotherapy to save little Mirabel, who has been admitted since May 28 at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) is a type of blood cancer that starts from white blood cells called lymphocytes in the bone marrow.

Adults and children can get it but it is most often diagnosed in younger people. Chemotherapy is the main treatment. Some people need to have a stem cell transplant.

Mirabel’s mother, Gloria Ilemoh, lamented that the baby is the first of her two children, stressing that she has been in a sick bed for months, and she is bitter to see her suffer, without help.

She added that neither she nor her husband has the wherewithal to cater to the medical bill.

“My husband earns N27,000 as a salesman in a Coca-Cola company, he cannot afford this big amount,” she pleaded.

She, however, appealed to all Nigerians to save her daughter from cancer of the bone and blood.

Confirming the ailment, an oncologist of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State, Dr Okosun Ofure, said over N5 million is required for the treatment.

She added that a surgery would be required if only the baby does not respond positively to the treatment, noting that the treatment needs to be conducted as soon as possible to save the life of the patient.

Support could be extended through GT Bank Account number: 0834080086. Account Name: Ilemoh Ochuwa Mirabel.
