A 15-year-old boy, simply identified as Ekine, a resident of Mile 2 Diobu, reported missing on Monday, August 7, was found dead around Mbudayia River in Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akor Local Council of the state.
The Guardian learnt that the parents of the deceased teenager reported a case of a missing person to the police on Tuesday.
A source said a boat driver saw the body of the teenage boy, when it floated on the River.
The parents were informed and upon arrival at the scene, they discovered it was their missing son.
When contacted, spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident.
She said parents of the teenager have buried their son, as they were not interested in any case.
