Couples renew marital vows, rededicate marriages as camp ends

The Marriage Cana Booth Camp retreat for the clergy and their wives rounded off last week with couples going home with different categories of gifts.
Held at the Ibru International Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Council of Delta State, the four-day event, first of it kind, was solely a no-fee-gathering for member of the clergy to mingle and rejuvenate the marriages.

The Rector, Ven. Stephen Wolemonwu, who facilitated the Boot Camp, said the event served as a holy vacation, spiritual, emotional and psychological marital exercise for couple bonding.

He noted that the event aimed at restoring marital joy, rekindle love, rejuvenating marriages, creating euphoric environment between couples and as well a couple’s clinic.

The meeting kicked off at 7:30pm on August 3, 2023 with the arrival guests, registration of couples, dinner and hour of praise and prayers at St. Peter’s Chapel.

At the opening, the Rector read his address and the general camp rules. After this, couples went for breakfast and later had the teaching and interactive session anchored by the Rector with, “Understanding The Secrets To A Successful Marriage,” as theme. This was with couples’ visit to Pathway Botanical Garden at Agbarha-otor where the tour guard exposed the couples to different ornamental plants, their botanical names, country of origin and method of propagating them.

Day 2 started with a work-out, followed by a general devotion at the chapel, where Reverend Onyeka C.W. Ezeokwuegbu preached on the topic: “God Works His Purpose Out.”

Day 3 saw attendees go for a work-out, love walk and special morning talk on: “Healthy And Unhealthy Disagreements” and later a general devotion titled: “Between A Good Name And Riches.” This was held at St. Peter’s chapel.

Taking the session that dealt on “Avoiding Family Unrest In The Home,” Venerable Wolemonwu urged couples to mean whatever they say to their spouses, as this would help foster understanding at homes and also ascertain assurance, among others. After this, couples visited the mini-mart within the vicinity before engaging in another interactive session on “Communication.” Here, couples were exposed to different channels and management of Information technology.

At the Day 4 (final day) participants had exhortative sessions on how to handle offences. The programme came to an end with a brief worship at the Chapel where couples renewed their marital vows and rededicated their marriages on the Chancel.

At the close of service, the Rector and his wife presented gifts to the “Best and Funniest Couples.
