Emma Heming Willis, the wife of Hollywood star Bruce Willis, is opening up about the challenges of caring for her husband, who has been diagnosed with a disease called frontotemporal dementia.

This diagnosis comes six months after their family publicly shared that Bruce had developed aphasia, a condition affecting his ability to communicate.

Taking on the role of caretaker, Emma is reaching out to others who are also caring for loved ones with a disease. She’s asked her fellow caretakers to share photos of themselves surrounded by beautiful things. 

In a video she shared on Instagram, Emma emphasized the importance of breaking away from negative thoughts and trying to live the best life possible, even amidst difficult circumstances.</span

Emma, who married Bruce in 2009, is taking care of him as they raise their two daughters, Mabel (11) and Evelyn (8). Bruce also has three daughters from his previous marriage to Demi Moore: Rumer (34), Scout (32), and Tallulah (29).

Emma wants to make it clear that while she’s trying her best, it’s not easy. She admits that she’s not okay, but she’s putting in a conscious effort to take care of herself and her family. She likens it to the oxygen masks on an airplane – you need to take care of yourself first before helping others.

The response to Emma’s message has been overwhelming with supportive comments pouring in. Many people recognize the challenges she’s facing and encourage her to prioritize her well-being.

Emma has been open about the difficulties since Bruce’s diagnosis, sharing her emotions and experiences, including on his 68th birthday. 

The family announced in March 2022 that Bruce would be stepping away from his acting career due to aphasia. This decision came after Bruce’s cognitive abilities were impacted by the condition.
