Kwara gov nominates Olukoju, others as commissioners

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has nominated renowned communications, public relations and policy advocacy specialist, Bolanle Olukoju, as commissioner-designate for his second term in office.

Olukoju’s name was in the list of 18 nominees forwarded to the House of Assembly by the governor for screening and confirmation, as unveiled by the Speaker, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, at plenary.

The Speaker, while reading the governor’s communication to the assembly, said AbdulRazaq’s request for the clearance of the nominees was pursuant to Sections 14 (4) and 192 (125) of the Constitution.

Renowned for her expertise in stakeholders and communications management, Olukoju has been instrumental in shaping and driving effective narratives across various sectors.

AbdulRazaq’s commitment to inclusiveness, diversity and increased role for women is further exemplified by the diverse composition of the nominees, which include accomplished women such as Amina El-Imam, Offa-born senior lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

Other nominees include, Abdulganiyu Abdulazeez (Asa Local Council), Aliyu Sabi (Baruten), Sheu Ndanusa (Edu), Afolasade Kemi (Ekiti) and Dr. Segun Ogunsola (Ifelodun).

Others are Abdulqowiy Olododo (Ilorin East), Saadat Modibbo-Kawu (Ilorin South), Senior Suleiman (Ilorin West), Hauwa Nuru (Ilorin West), Damilola Yusuf and Oloruntosin Thomas (Isin), Abubakar Abdullahi (Kaiama) John Bello (Moro), Dr. Mary Ayinde (Oke-Ero), Olaitan Buremo (Oyun) and Usman Yinusa (Patigi).

As part of the screening process, Olukoju and her fellow nominees had, on Tuesday, submitted 35 copies of their curricula vitae to the Assembly Clerk.

In the meantime, the legislature has approved the governor’s request for the appointment of 10 Special Advisers (SAs) in fulfilment of Section 196 (1) of the Constitution.

The governor said the nominations of his commissioners-designate and aides reinforced his administration’s commitment to appoint only competent, loyal and committed individuals, who will facilitate hitch-free governance and fast-track qualitative service to people.
