The record-breaking Nigerian DJ, DJ Phil who had his Amapiano Essentials mixtape peak at number 2 on the Nigerian Apple music chart, has taken the Lagos scene by storm all summer.

The Amapiano Essentials mixtape, which was released over a year ago, is currently seated at number 15 on the official Nigerian chart and is still making waves around the country. In an interview conducted with DJ Phil, he laid out special plans he had for the rest of the summer, which we are looking forward to.

Over the course of the summer, Dj Phil made numerous appearances at special events with heartwarming receptions and has been on the radar of other disc jockeys and industry professionals in the city. His most recent appearance at Hard Rock Cafe Lagos, with a sold-out capacity of 500 people, left the crowd with very positive talking points about his professional abilities as a disc jockey.

He also released a mixtape called ‘Summer 23, which featured one of the city’s most prominent hypemen, Activeboy. The mixtape went on to peak in the top 50 of the official Nigerian chart within a week of release and attracted more attention to the activities in his camp.

DJ Phil hinted at a sequel to Amapiano Essentials, which is expected to be released before the summer ends. In an interview, he said he is looking forward to the next couple of months, including a new mixtape to be released and a tour that is in the works.
