UAC Foods launches new sausage roll brand, Kingsway

Following the current state of the economy and to ensure that the masses get valuable filling option, UAC Foods Limited, makers of Gala and a subsidiary of UAC Nigeria PLC, has unveiled a new Sausage Roll brand called ‘Kingsway’.

Speaking at the launch which held at its Ojota office, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, UAC Foods Limited, Mr. Oluyemi Oloyede, said it would offer consumers an exciting choice in the Sausage Roll market, especially given the current state of the Nigerian economy.

“We are giving our teeming and supporting consumers a chance to have an alternative product in the market. It is targeted at the value segment of the market, which we strongly believe will meet the aspirations of our consumers. Especially at this time, when people are looking to cut cost. It’s a product that we believe will be able to satisfy their needs.”

He said a major difference between the already established Gala and the newly launched Kingsway is size is the weight of 75g, which is an upgrade on the 65g of Gala. Adding that it was a deliberate move to grant consumers more satisfaction, and offer some respite in the area of food which is a crucial need of the average Nigerian citizen.

General Manager, Operations, UAC Foods Limited, Mr. Stephen Adekogbe, noted that despite economic issues and fuel price hikes they are still able to reach the entire nation.

“The macroeconomic numbers are not encouraging at this point in time. Inflation is over 20 per cent, fuel prices are constantly rising, and foreign exchange rates are so unstable. This is sure to have an impact on our input cost. The raw materials are driven by foreign exchange as well. There are many challenges, but as a business we will do our best to manage the impact and effects of these inputs so we do not pass on those price hikes to our consumers,” he said.
