The Nigerian Legion has appealed to government, private sector and corporate Nigerians to support the body. During the official launch of the Nigerian legion ‘Five Million Salute’ yesterday, in Lagos, the chief host and national chairman, Major-General Abdulmalik Jibrin (rtd), said: “Let us make a pledge today not first with our words, but with our actions. Let us stand shoulder to shoulder, united in our commitment, to honour the memory of our fallen heroes, and to support those who have served and continued to serve.”
He lamented that they have faced unimaginable challenges, enduring hardship they can only imagine. He went on: “But let us not forget the families of our fallen heroes, they too have made enormous sacrifices. They have borne the weight of loss, and they have confidence to do so every day. Their resilience and strength deserve our utmost respect and support.
“Today, as we come together, let us remember that our duty to our veterans and the families of the fallen heroes does not end when the battles are over.
“It is an ongoing responsibility that we must embrace with open hearts and wallets. Your generous contributions today will make a tangible difference in the lives of those who have given so much.”
