Both organisations took their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to the young impressionable learners at the underprivileged community to commemorate the International Literacy Day.

Activities held include spelling bee competition, recitals and debate competition, which showcased the importance of literacy development among the children, while the melodies of music and the rhythm of dance underscored the celebration of knowledge, creativity and opportunity.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Operations at Famfa Oil, Mr. Femi Adejumo, who was represented by Yemi Atolagbe, an engineer, said there is no better way of sowing the seeds of change than through education.

He said the ability to read and write is not just a privilege, but also a fundamental right that responsible corporate citizens are committed to upholding and promoting.

“These children, who often face insurmountable challenges accessing quality education, were treated to an unforgettable day filled with gifts and rewards. But the significance of this day went beyond just material tokens; it illuminated a path toward a better future for these children,” he stated.

Adejumo reiterated Famfa Oil’s unwavering commitment to education at all levels, adding that the company believes literacy is not merely a skill, but the master key that unlocks a world brimming with opportunities.

He said the partnership between Famfa Oil and Slum2school represents the essence of what corporate entities could achieve when they champion noble causes.

He said it also emphasises the pivotal role corporations play in supporting education and literacy programmes, particularly for those who have been marginalised by society.
