The state police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, said in a statement on Tuesday, that the suspects were arrested on Sunday, September 17, following a raid by the police and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).

Odutola said the raid was in response to a report of a clash between two rival cult groups, namely Aiye and Eiye, resulting in the deaths of four individuals at Ewu Iya Sunday in Sakora.

He stated that the area commander swiftly mobilised operatives to the scene in order to de-escalate the clash and apprehend the cultists involved.
