Ohanaeze to celebrate Igbo Day on September 29 

The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo said that the 2023 Igbo Day celebration would be held on September 29, 2023, at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo said that the 2023 Igbo Day celebration would be held on September 29, 2023, at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
  
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation noted that this year’s celebration is tagged, “Onye Ahala Nwanne Ya” (Be your brothers’ keeper).

According to a statement by the factional Secretary-General of the Igbo group, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Chairman of the occasion will be Prof. Thomas Ella of Yale University, and the Guest Speaker will be Prof. Elechi Chinda-Wonye of the University of Singapore. 
  
Giving the highlights of the celebration, Isiguzoro said there would be awards to Senator Obi Wali, Eze Clifford Nwuche, Emma Agumah and Senator Francis Ellah, all of who are esteemed Igbo icons and legends of Rivers State. He added that the former administrative secretary, Nnanyelugo Odunze, would also be honoured.
 
He said: “The high point of the 2023 Igbo Day celebration will be a one-minute silence observed by Igbo all over the world for those killed in Imo State and other places in the past. Igbo services and prayers will be held on September 23 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Port Harcourt, and on September 24 in all churches across the country.”
