Dr. Chinyere Almona, Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, Ade Olufeko deliver talks in Beijing
In a series of thought-provoking talks and discussions, Dr. Chinyere Almona, the Director General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), delivered a keynote address, alongside Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi and Ade Abayomi Olufeko, at the Global Alliance for Trade and Services (GATIS) conference held in Beijing, China. This event was part of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) and took place from September 2nd to 6th, 2023. The conference focused on forging partnerships and exploring emerging markets.
Dr. Chinyere Almona gave a keynote address that led the delegation in educating potential partners about LCCI’s pivotal role in the regional business ecosystem. LCCI, with its 12 sectoral groups, serves as a gateway to the thriving West African market, offering abundant opportunities for foreign investment and market penetration. Her keynote address shed light on the vast potential of the West African business landscape, with a particular focus on sectors like Mining and Solid Minerals, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and the growing creative industry.
Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, the Director of Economic Trade and Investment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria, addressed the audience as a panelist on the significance of green development in economies like Nigeria’s. He explored the practicality of implementing favorable policies in emerging markets, providing valuable insights into sustainable economic growth. Ambassador Akinremi shared the stage with other experts, including Inès Ginon, Liu Baocheng, Lu Xinming, Declan Rooney, and Holger Friedrich, who offered diverse perspectives on economic development in emerging markets.
Ade Abayomi Olufeko, a polymath technologist and entrepreneur, who previously served as the first chairman of the Creative and Entertainment group at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was featured as a speaker at a digital economy event organized on the sidelines of CIFTIS. His talk revolved around the creative sector in emerging markets, emphasizing the crucial intersections of culture and tourism within the creative industries. Olufeko’s insights contributed to a deeper understanding of the economic potential within these sectors.
