Nigeria@63: Adeboye prays for divine healing, total freedom

The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, Pastor Enock Adeboye, on the occasion of Nigeria’s independence anniversary, yesterday, asked God to heal the nation and give her a new beginning.

Adeboye said the prayer at the RCCG headquarters, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-metta, while preaching on the topic “Freedom Indeed.” He urged the nation, political leaders, and leaders of different parastatals, judiciary, government functionaries, prisoners and captives to seek true and total freedom.

“Man is made of spirit, soul and body and, according to the scriptures, he is a spirit or soul living in the body, which means he can be enslaved in either of his tripartite being.

“It is not the will of God that man should be in bondage, spiritually, physically or materially.

“If you are sick, poor, always afraid, you are not free, you are in bondage, hence the scriptures proffer the solution that if Jesus Christ can set you free, you will be free indeed,” he said

He called on Nigerians to seek total freedom and live fulfilled lives, adding that total freedom can only be given by Jesus Christ. He called on God to heal Nigeria and its citizens for the betterment of the nation. I am wishing you a very good celebration but more than anything else, I wish all of you who are in Christ freedom and freedom indeed,” he added.

ALSO, the Lead Pastor and Founder of the Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, has blamed the state of the nation on bad leadership and empty promises by the political class, who exploit the nation. He called for attitudinal change across, especially among youths.

According to Achudume, it is saddening that the problem confronting the over 200 million Nigerians is caused by a few per cent of the population that constitute the political class.

Apostle Achudume, who spoke against the backdrop of the 63rd independence anniversary of the country, said: “It is disheartening these days to note that our youths rely mostly on social media, which have succeeded in ruining the majority of them. The youth should rather focus more on God and take care of their future as no government can completely take them to the promised land.”
