Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has called on security agencies in the state to investigate and prosecute the killers of its member by thugs.
Spokesman/Director, Media and Publicity, Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council, Kingsley Fanwo, who made the call, yesterday, in Lokoja, while addressing newsmen, said the quietness of security agencies in the matter amid complaints about the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate seems to be emboldening the suspects.
APC is suspecting SDP candidate, Muritala Ajaka, as the mastermind of the murder.
Fanwo said his party’s candidate for the November 11, 2023 governorship election, Ahmed Ododo, remained uncompromisingly committed to issue-based campaign that is devoid of violence, ethnocentric narratives or divisive tendencies.
He noted that under the leadership of the campaign council chairman, Yahaya Bello, and the Director-General, Shuaibu Audu, the APC campaign had been peaceful, uniting and a true reflection of enduring legacies, which he said kept the party at the apex of political performance in the state.
According to him, issue-based campaign entails tailoring promises, assurances and social contract with the peace-loving people of the state through the media, adding that Ododo wants Kogi people to be convinced by the legacies of the system he served in, his promises of consolidation and continuity, his antecedents and competence, as well as his message of unity.
“His clip to these ideals is iron-cast. We have invited you today to brief you of certain developments as we race to November 11, 2023, chief among them, the gruesome murder of an unarmed woman at Kotonkarfe by people suspected to be armed thugs of Ajaka.
“While we commiserate with the family and people of Kotonkarfe, we call on security agencies to ensure that those, who threatened to kill and went ahead to kill have undoubtedly declared war on the Nigerian state, whose responsibility it is to protect the poor woman, who was killed by bullets from the barrels of SDP rifles,” APC stated.
