
The Boot Camp Summit, a crucial event in the realm of education, is geared towards achieving several fundamental objectives. The event, the maiden edition of National Basic Education In Nigeria- BOOTCAMP (Ben -B) Summit, organised by Federal Ministry of Education (Universal Basic Education Commission), in conjunction with Akwa Ibom State Government on the theme ‘Improving Access To Nigeria Inclusive Quality Education For All children In Nigeria :Towards Achieving SDG4’ at Ibom Icon Hotel And Golf Resort, Uyo was declared open by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
Group Managing Director, NewGlobe Education, Dr. Akin-Olusoji Akinleye, delivered a keynote address to underscore not just the depth of the challenges for education in Nigeria but more importantly the tried, tested and globally acclaimed methods to leapfrog the nation’s education to the same levels as countries that are economically ahead.
In conclusion he laid down a challenge for sub-sector stakeholders, he said:
”Education is one of the most important factors we need to progress, to ensure the future of our country, and we have the ways to do it already here with us in Edo, Lagos, Kwara and Bayelsa. Let’s do it, let’s transform learning in Nigeria, for the many, not just the few.”
The boot camp summit brought together key stakeholders in the field of basic education to deliberate on the prevalent policy, practice, and implementation gaps facing the sub-sector.
