Eezee Conceptz’

Budding gospel artiste and winner of the recently completed EeZee Conceptz Gospel Groove Talent Quest (GGTQ) 2023, Olabisi Aanuoluwapo Esther, popularly known as Labisi, has come through with a heartwarming single titled, Yahweh.

The single, which was released on Friday, September 29, according to the singer, is a song that is deeply rooted in Christian theology, with underlying themes of help and salvation through God’s grace. The video for the song was released on Sunday, October 1.

Yahweh is a heartfelt acknowledgement of the saving power of God – baba téwó gbà mí. With an elevated opening verse, Labisi sets the tone for the entire soulful worship. The Extended Play (EP) is set for release on November 3.

Speaking during an interview, the Ibadan-born gospel artiste, who is in a class of her own with her unique sound, style of music and excellent delivery, described her sound as culturalistic and local owing to her indigenous background.

Commending EeZee Concept for organising GGTQ, which brought her to limelight, Labisi noted that the Talent Show Academy also helped to deepen her ingenious gospel music style, adding that her style is a fusion of soulful-folklore and Fuji.

“Gospel Groove Talent Quest was a grooming land for me. The experience of the house would stay with me for life. The experience has built my career effortlessly,” she said.

With slow repetitive patterns and electronic instrumentation, Labisi’s music style carefully emphasises atmosphere and texture over traditional musical structures. Before Yahweh ‘s release, she had released Olodumare on September 3.

Recall that the University of Ibadan Theatre Arts student won a brand new car, N10 million cash prize as well as a three-year recording and management deal following her victory at the GGTQ.
