Fixing roads will reduce kidnapping, banditry, says Ohanaeze

Backs Umahi’s N217b demand for roads
The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, maintained that fixing all roads in the country will reduce the spate of kidnapping, banditry and other security challenges facing the country, pleading with President Bola Tinubu to release the sum of N216 billion for the reconstruction of 260 roads under the Ministry of Works.

In a statement in Abakaliki, the Secretary General of the Igbo group, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said that Ohanaeze commends Tinubu for releasing funds for the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge in Enugu and other projects across the country, adding that Nigerians are happy with the President.

Isiguzoro further emphasised that Nigerians deserve sustainable and high-integrity roads for their daily use, insisting that construction of road pavement using cement technology, a move being promoted by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, is a welcome development.

Said him: “Ohanaeze is backing Umahi’s demands for N217 billion to reconstruct 260 road projects and eight bridges across the country, and we highlight the dire need for infrastructural development in the South East, especially the reconstruction of all major federal roads, which have become death traps.”
