Suspected gunmen who stormed Shabewa in Dukku Local Council of Gombe State have abducted one of the wives, and brother to their escapee target.

Spokesperson for the state police command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mahid Muazu, who disclosed this in a statement, yesterday, said the suspected kidnappers, on Sunday at about 2:55 a.m., invaded the resident of one Umar Sambo of Shabewa ward Dukku in Dukku Local Council with guns and other dangerous weapons asking his first wife of his whereabouts.

“Fortunately, the man did not sleep in her room because he was alerted, and he escaped into the bush before the kidnappers entered the second wife’s room. But after searching all rooms and could not find him, they took one of his wives, Amina Usman Aliyu, and his brother, Mustapha Sambo of the same address,” Muazu said.

He stated that police patrol teams in collaboration with vigilantes and hunters were on the kidnappers’ trail inside the bush following directives by the Commissioner of Police.

He said: “CP Equa Etim assures the good citizens of Dukku and the state at large of the command’s readiness and commitment to securing their lives and property. The command urges residents to remain calm and provide us with useful information that will aid in the quick rescue of the victims through the command’s emergency number 08150567771.

“Finally, the command implores the public to disregard any misleading information being circulated by mischief makers who are bent on portraying the state in bad light for their selfish interests,” he said.
