Afro-fusion artiste, Aninooritsewarami Alero Oritsesan, professionally known as Kold AF, has showcased why she is a queen in her own world with a distinctive sound and style, worthy of everyone’s time and attention with just released Extensive Playlist (EP), titled, KOLLIDE.
Among the plethora of artistes that have released their songs this year, the fast rising singer, who has slowly, but steadily built an audience through her music covers of popular songs, offers a refreshing feel of what she’s made of in the EP.
In partnership with producer BGRZ, Kold AF (formerly known as Koel) showcases her genre-bending ability that shares the spotlight with her impressive songwriting. Through an exploration of Pop and R&B underlined by a dancehall technique, Kold AF is bringing her uniqueness to Nigerian music, as she’s already showing glimpses of something capable of disrupting the scene.
She explores the subject of heartbreak like in Broken, while in Chess & Checkers, her vocals pack the depth required to convey the feelings of hurt required to convince listeners. In Nobody 2 Somebody, which discusses her struggles and self-belief, she deploys an infectious melody and heartwarming delivery aided by the honest and relatable writing.
Discussing her romantic emotions Kold AF effortlessly molds the melody and employs a delivery that packs the sensuality required to sell the song in Love N Peace, even as she explores desires in Tension.
Her eclectic sound which stands her out as afro-fusion artiste, and adeptness at blending and bending different genres with a core foundation in her elemental genres – Afrobeats, Dancehall and RnB – made her one of privileged artistes selected by Boomplay and Aristokrat for a songwriting camp earlier this year.
To properly mark her entrance into the music scene, the Itsekiri native released a two-track project called Kold Szn. The project has production credits from Mike Misan and SirBastien while the entire project was mixed and mastered by SirBastien.
