He shared these sentiments while accepting the Special Recognition Award at the 8th EMY Africa Awards held on Saturday night in Ghana.

In a captivating recollection of his journey, he described his journey.

“About 28 years ago, I discovered Ghana, and it was truly love at first sight. I was fleeing Nigeria due to the military government’s oppression at the time. I had to leave my wife just three years into our marriage, with our first son not even a year old. I resorted to disguising myself as a farmer and embarked on a perilous journey through the bush, crossing the Seme border into Cotonou, and from there, I found my way to Lome… and eventually, to Ghana.”

Dele Momodu continued, reflecting on how Ghana had offered him sanctuary during those tumultuous times. He elaborated on his period of exile, which included a three-year stay in England, during which he harnessed his journalistic skills to establish a successful business, Ovation.

In his words, “Ovation is now receiving its own ‘ovation’ here in Ghana.” The elated journalist extended his heartfelt appreciation to the event organizers for their recognition and honour.
