Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped the wife and two children of a Kwara State lawmaker, Lawal Ayanshola Soliu, representing Ipaiye/Malete/Olooru of Moro Local Government.

They were kidnapped early Monday. Our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers invaded the house of the legislator at about 1:00 am.

According to eyewitnesses, they were armed to the teeth with AK-47 rifles, shooting sporadically to scare away likely rescuers and instill fear in their victims.

Our reporter learned that the assailants whisked away their victims away unmolested.

At the time of filing this report, the family source said that the whereabouts of their relatives remained unknown.

“One of the kidnappers who contacted us said he was not yet with his colleagues in the forest to harmonize their price,” he added.

Phone calls to the lawmaker were not answered.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okesanmi confirmed the incident.

He said, “Details are still sketchy but I will get back as soon as we have comprehensive details of the incident”.
