Founder and Chairperson for the Society for the Performing Arts, Nigeria (SPAN), Mrs. Sarah Bolos stated that ‘Famfest’ is focused on creating the right family values. “We are thrilled to bring ‘Famfest’ to the community and provide a wholesome, fun and inclusive event for families to enjoy. We hope to see families come together to celebrate the importance of family. The event promises to be a fun-filled and memorable experience for everyone.”

She stated that ‘Famfest’ was seeking to celebrate local and international legends, and use as a means of unifying Nigerian youth, “The theme this year is called ‘Cheering you On.’ We realise that some of our young people don’t know a lot of our legends in Nigeria, and also some of them abroad. Throughout this year starting from the festival, we’ll be doing online interviews to connect people that have succeeded in a certain capacity with young people. But we first have to celebrate them, because, cheering you on means that if we celebrate one another, there is no point of fighting with one another. We respect and honor one another, and create a purpose value added life.” she added.

Mrs. Bolos also stated that proceeds from ticket purchases would go to bridging gaps for less privileged children: “The Famfest festival will allow us to raise money to go back into the community and teach for free. While people are purchasing tickets, they are actually giving back to a child who has no opportunity in other areas. We want to develop community centers where we can go and teach our skills with our teachers, give back to the communities, and create hope.”

Creative Director of SPAN, Mr. Agocha Davies revealed that ‘Legendary’ would offer young people a chance for inward reflection, “It is a production that is created for Young People to learn from and question their current state, and see how they can forge further in their career, in whatever space they find themselves.”
