Wave-making Nigerian dancer, Dipeolu Damilola Dipson, fondly referred to as 1cloutdipson, has shared his rags-to-riches story. This journey saw him renting mobile phones from friends, colleagues, and associates to record dance moves for uploading to social media networks. As the saying goes, dreams are valid, but having a clear endpoint is vital for our determination, even in the face of challenges, whether by default or by focus.

Value often comes at a price. Dipeolu Damilola Dipson, a young dance sensation, recognized his potential early in life. Through years of hard work and dedication, he unlocked the door to greatness in the entertainment industry.

1cloutdipson is the only child of his parents, who hail from Sagamu, Ogun State. Despite his lofty ambitions, he never wavered in his commitment to his education, which played a pivotal role in his journey as a professional dancer. His parents’ unwavering support was also invaluable.

Dipeolu Dipson is currently a student in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). He has carved a niche for himself as an influencer of dance moves and lifestyle. His talent has garnered the admiration of artists who can’t resist his gift.

Reflecting on his humble beginnings, 1cloutdipson said: “My parents have always been in full support of my craft, right from when I decided to start dancing. The attention has been overwhelming, but it’s a result of the hard work we’ve put into our craft. I started from nothing, borrowing phones and even paying people to use their phones because they had good cameras to shoot and create quality dance content.

“I’d trek to different locations to create dance content, gather an audience on my page, and try to connect with other dancers and top dance sensations to get my face out there. I worked tirelessly to save money to invest in my appearance, buying clothes and shoes to enhance my videos and make them visually appealing. Sometimes, we were even asked to leave malls while shooting dance content, but that never deterred my drive to become a dance influencer,” 1cloutdipson added.

He takes pride in his massive following on social media, where even those who don’t typically consume such content appreciate his talent and regard him as an industry trailblazer. In 2021, he co-founded a prominent dance group, City Boyz, with nine close friends.

Dipeolu Damilola Dipson was inspired by Ayo & Teo to become a dancer. His role models include Kida The Great, The Future Kings, Jabawockeez, Jeriq The Husla, and Davido. Cloutbaby created a signature dance step for a track, “FEEL,” in Davido’s new album. He spoke about his collaboration with the multiple award-winning singer and how it has significantly impacted his career.

“The experience of creating the dance for ‘FEEL,’ a song by Davido, was truly unbelievable and surreal. I wasn’t expecting to work with Davido this year or anytime soon. So when Davido offered me the project, I was honestly lost for words. I can’t even express how I felt at that moment, but trust me, I was one of the happiest, if not the happiest person on earth.

“I knew at that moment that the project was going to change my career forever. It was a song from his upcoming album, destined for huge success. I felt incredibly blessed to be part of the project.

“The support has been tremendous. The moment Davido followed me on Instagram, I honestly thought it was a mistake until I reached out to him, and he replied with a video of one of my dances that he liked. Since then, it’s been unwavering support,” said 1cloutdipson.
