Presidential candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in this year’s general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has cautioned Israel against inflicting collateral damage on the entire Gaza in its reprisal on suspected Hamas structures.
While recognising that Israel has a legitimate right to seek to degrade Hamas, he advised that innocent civilians should be spared. On the October 6 Hamas surprise attack on Israel that claimed several Israelis and foreigners, and spurred renewed conflict in the Middle East, Adebayo stressed that in the end, the rights of all the communities involved are the responsibility of the international community, noting that the innocent people of that region were paying unwarranted prices in lives and limbs for problems they did not cause.
He had last week said ensuring peace in the Middle East was a debt the international community owes the region, insisting that getting the Oslo Accord to work again would be a master stroke to foster an enduring peace in the troubled zone.
Meanwhile, the politician has congratulated Nigerians and the Federal Government for winning the $11 billion legal battle with the Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) company in a London court.
Adebayo, in his reaction on his X handle, stated: “I heartily congratulate Nigerians, the Federal Government and @officialEFCC on well-deserved justice in the Nigeria vs P&ID case, which would have robbed poor Nigerians of $11billion.”
