Play Network Studios of Nigeria and Mondjila Studios of Namibia have joined forces to bring forth a cinematic masterpiece – ‘The Skeleton Coast.’

The ethos behind ‘The Skeleton Coast’ is rooted in the belief that African stories should be told in their entirety, from the heart of Africa to the world. Charles Okpaleke of Play Network Studios, known for his role in modern, reformative African storytelling, and Panashe Daringo of Mondjila Studios, a Namibian movie production powerhouse, are set to epitomise Pan-Africanism through this grand cinematic endeavour.

‘Our stories are ours to tell, from Africa to the world, as we step forward in our mutual responsibility to write tomorrow’s history in authenticity, forward-thinking innovation and audacious Pan-African collaboration.’

As the title suggests, “The Skeleton Coast” unfolds on Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, a place referred to by local bushmen tribes as ‘The Land God Made in Anger.’ This coastal region is known for its haunting beauty, with over a thousand shipwrecks, creating an otherworldly experience against the untouched natural beauty, deep history, and vibrant life, juxtaposed with the evident remnants of death from the countless bones of whales, seals, and unique wildlife.

Charles Okpaleke of Play Network Studios and Panashe Daringo of Mondjila Studios are determined to transcend boundaries and make “The Skeleton Coast” the largest-scale collaborative film production on the African continent. The project, currently in the principal photography stage in Namibia, is under the direction of the renowned Robert O. Peters and produced by the internationally acclaimed Rogers Ofime and Arafat Bello-Osagie of Play Network Studios.

The cast of “The Skeleton Coast” features a star-studded lineup, including Thapelo Mokoena from South Africa, Ini Dima-Okojie from Nigeria, Tjuna Daringo representing Namibia, Mawuli Gavor from Ghana, Cindy Mahlangu from South Africa, and Damilola Adegbite from Nigeria. Adding a touch of Hollywood glamour to the mix is Golden Globe and Academy Award Nominated Eric Roberts, a seasoned American actor with four decades of international experience.

The production team has expressed confidence in “The Skeleton Coast,” promising a harmonious blend of excellence in creativity, the strength of cross-country partnership, faith in African storytelling backed by substantial investment, and a celebration of African heritage beautifully depicted through a captivating narrative and stunning scenery.

From Africa to the world, the film promises to be a cinematic masterpiece, a captivating visual journey that transcends borders, taking African narratives to the global stage.
