Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) will, in the third week of November, hold its 41st international conference and exhibition to deliberate on the petroleum business and the regulatory environment.
The summit will address the prospects of repositioning the country’s oil and gas industry for future energy dynamics, evolving regulations and geo-environmental strategies in the energy transition era.
During a briefing to announce its yearly international conference and exhibition, NAPE noted that the country’s energy landscape is characterised by other contending and increasingly relevant issues such as energy insecurity; dynamics of gas development, commercialisation and monetisation; development of Nigeria’s under-explored gas-rich Cretaceous basins; and how Nigeria will adapt her policies and diversify her energy portfolio in the energy transition era, to achieve sustainable growth for the economy.
The association emphasised that the Opening Ceremony will have the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, as Special Guest of Honour.
NAPE President, Elliot Ibie, noted that the theme of this year’s conference, scheduled to hold from November 12 to 16, 2023, is ‘Repositioning the Oil and Gas Industry for Future Energy Dynamics’.
He added that the rising need for transition towards more sustainable energy sources, energy poverty and global geopolitics required strategic re-appraisal of the energy Industry, as the country has an Energy Transition Plan to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emission by 2060.
President-elect and Chairman, Conference Planning Committee, NAPE, Abiodun Ogunjobi, said with tech evolving, fossil fuel would not be eradicated.
“The Pre-Conference Workshop will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, with the theme, ‘Unlocking Nigeria’s Remaining Energy to Fuel Economic Growth and Diversification: Opportunities and Challenges’. Chairman of AA Holdings, Austin Avuru, has been chosen as the keynote speaker.
