A former member of the House of Representatives in the 9th Assembly, Kabiru Yahaya Classic, has been shot by suspected terrorists.

According to reports, Yahaya, who represented Talata Mafara/Anka Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, was shot along the Gusau-Funtua highway.

Two people have also been reportedly killed in Kucheri village, where the incident happened.

It was gathered that Yahaya left Gusau on Wednesday afternoon for Kano when he ran into the terrorists operating at Kucheri, along the Gusau-Funtua highway, at about 2 pm.

The terrorists opened fire on the former Federal Law Maker’s vehicle, leaving him with multiple gunshot wounds.

He has been rushed to hospital for medical attention.

The Zamfara State Police Command is yet to confirm the shooting of the victim.

The Gusau-Funtua Highway is notorious for banditry activities, as several commuters and residents of the villages along the highway have suffered attacks and kidnaps.
