
The partnership between two educational platforms is aimed at solidifying collaborations to transform young persons across Africa.
Receiving the AGID delegation led by its Founder, Seyi Adisa, at the institution’s Boardroom, Vice chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, described the initiative as a pivotal step towards enhancing Nigeria’s leadership and governance system.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Ezekiel Ayoola, reiterated the importance of AGID’s vision in motivating Nigerian youths and combating the brain drain issue faced by the nation.
Adebowale emphasised the need for national cohesion and patriotism in the journey of nation-building and encouraged the youth to believe in the Nigerian project, citing America and Singapore as some the nations that recorded steady progresses by the efforts of the citizens.
He commended AGID’s goals and programmes, while promising the university’s unwavering support for this capacity-building endeavour, which aims at inspiring both students and young people.
Adisa said that the vast challenges confronting Africa could only be addressed through quality leadership and good governance.
He revealed that AGID was establishing an institute where young individuals would undertake short courses in governance and leadership.
These courses, guided by seasoned practitioners, would equip aspiring youths interested in politics, the public sector, and public office with essential skills and values.
Adisa added that he was leveraging on his relationships and network across Africa to ensure that experienced governance and leadership practitioners, as well as distinguished professors and academics within the university to provide experiential learning for the several short courses with a view to reshaping the mindsets of those going into public service.
