
The host of Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) 2026, University of Calabar (UniCal) has announced MediaVision as the sole and exclusive marketer of the event.
Vice Chancellor of UniCal, Professor Florence Obi, disclosed this during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) ceremony at the Council Chambers.
In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor stated that the University of Calabar is starting early to ensure the facilities are ready in time for the games.
She further stated that officials of NUGA would visit the university by the end of 2024 to inspect the facilities.
She affirmed that under her management, Unical NUGA 2026 promises to be the best NUGA competition in the history of the games.
Co-Founder of MediaVision Limited, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, said they were confident of working with UniCal to put together an impactful NUGA games come 2026.
Bank-Olemoh said they would do all they could to ensure that the resources needed to get the facilities ready for effective hosting of the games were made available.
According to him, the mascot design competition would be open to only UniCal Students and would run from Nov. 9 to Dec. 7, 2023.
“The mascot will have to speak to this competition and will be created by a student of UniCal and will be thrown open.
“While the mascot will be used to drive everything for the competition, we will also have student ambassadors and social media influencers to continue to create awareness of the games both within the school and beyond.
“The winner will receive 150,000 naira, the runner-up 100,000 naira, and the third place finisher will receive 50,000 naira.”
According to him, “the criteria for the contest includes: the competition is open to only Unical students, the Mascot design must be the original work of the participant, each entry must incorporate the Unical or Cross – Rivers State colors, and each entry must be accompanied by a compelling story about the Mascot.
