Discover the will of God for you – Part 52

If we do not submit to God’s guidance we become victims of our own circumstances and circumstances-directed, rather than Christ-directed. The second is that we can lose our sense of sonship. In Rom 8:1-7 Paul tells us that those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. If there is no sense of being led, there will be no sense of belonging; you will travel through life feeling like a spiritual orphan. Divine guidance, the awareness of God’s will for your life, is not a luxury for rare souls, but the minimum necessity for every Christian. The Almighty God wants to live in close fellowship with you, close enough for Him to whisper to you in moments of perplexity and confusion. It is your choice to walk in it.

• Learn what God is teaching you in times of trials (Read Isaiah 30:19-22)
“And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. 21:Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “this is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left,” (Isaiah 30:20,21).

Isaiah 30:20, the Lord gave his people the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, but He promised to be with them, teach them, and guide them during hard times. God expects a lot from us, and many times following Him can be painful; but He always acts out of His love for us. Next time you go through a difficult time, try to appreciate the experience and grow from it, learning what God wants to teach you. God may be showing you His love by patiently walking with you through adversity.

Isaiah 30:21, when the people of Jerusalem left God’s path, He would correct them. He will do the same for us. But when we hear His voice of correction, we must be willing to follow it!

• God’s primary guidance system is in His Word — the Bible
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” (Ps 119:105).
God’s word contains the spiritual principles that will help us avoid many sorrows, pitfalls and tragedies brought on by wrong decisions and choices; consequently, we must treasure its wisdom and steadfastly hold on to its precepts in all life’s situation (vv 106,112).
“Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths,” (Ps 25:4).

David expressed his desire for guidance. How do we receive God’s guidance? The first step is to want to be guided and to realise that God’s primary guidance system is in His word, the Bible. Psalm 119 tells of the endless knowledge found in God’s Word.
