Organised Labour shut down National Assembly, bar workers from gaining entry

The organised labour have shut down the national assembly in line with the ongoing nationwide strike action in protest to the assault on the national president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero.

It was observed that as at 1.20 pm, the striking workers locked the entire gates leading to the national Assembly members.

The situation forced hundreds of legislative aides as well as visitors bent on gaining access to the national Assembly workers to resort to self help by scaling the fence.

However, the strike did not bar both senators and house of Representatives members from going ahead with their respective plenary sessions.
