Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has expressed his concern over the recent passing of Nigerian pop star, Oladipupo Olabode Oladimenji, better known as Oladips. Omokri drew parallels between Oladips’ death and that of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, both of whom passed away under similar circumstances.

In a tweet, Omokri suggested that the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMEAN) should collaborate with a health insurance provider to offer affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare to its members. He also emphasized the need for increased awareness and sensitization among musicians’ entourages regarding emergency procedures and first aid.
Omokri expressed his frustration over the recurring pattern of untimely deaths among young Nigerian entertainers and called for proactive measures to prevent such tragedies. He suggested that tributes are not enough and that efforts should focus on ensuring long, healthy lives for these artists.
“We do not need tributes for our artists. We need long lives for them,” Omokri stated. “It is a significant loss to Nigeria when young, talented entertainers, capable of rebranding our image internationally, meet untimely deaths.”
Omokri concluded his tweet by offering prayers for Oladips’ family, friends, and fans, wishing them the strength to bear their loss. He expressed his hope that his suggestions would be considered and implemented to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
