Customs seize 11 exotic cars in Niger, Kogi


The Nigeria Customs Service, Niger/Kogi Command, yesterday, said it has recorded seizures and detention of 11 exotic vehicles. The Customs Area Controller, Niger/Kogi Command, Busayo Oluwalagbemiga, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Minna.

He explained that other seizures and detentions recorded at various places within command include a truck Ladan with dutiable items, Jerry-cans containing PMS, Premium Motor Spirit, which has been auctioned due to its inflammable nature after due process was followed.

The Controller said the command had obtained the permission of the Controller General of Customs and deposited the money into the government’s coffer.

He said the duty paid value of all the seized items amounted to N56, 661,598.00. On revenue, he said the command was able to recovered a total revenue N10, 020,990.00 from demand notices

“To achieve this feat, we deployed massive intelligence and rules of engagement, hence no casualties. In a bid to carry out our mandate, the command has been engaging the border communities. I appreciate the role of the governor’s of the two states, (Niger/Kogi) and that of the royal fathers,” he said.

The Area Controller reiterated that the command is determined to confront smugglers and all other economic saboteurs whose antics would always be discovered and continue to make arrests, seizures and cripple their operations.

Other items seized by the command include 2019 Range Rover Land Rover, illegally flying the Diplomatic plate number.He also tells the smugglers and criminal elements that no matter how highly placed in the society, they would not be spared.He appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs Service for providing an enabling environment for officers to perform effectively.
