Veteran journalists and Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Paul Bassey, has been elected as the maiden second vice chairman of the newly formed African Club Association (ACA). The new body has Tanzania’s Hersi Said, who is president of Young Africans Football Club (YANGA), as chairman, while Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa’s Jessica Motaung is the first vice chairman.
CAF said it launched the African Club Association to empower the continent’s clubs and represent their interests.
The ACA board comprises two members from each of CAF’s six zones, but the association does not yet have a CEO, although it is understood that the body will have its headquarters in Kenya.
