According to a statement, the appointment is effective from November 16, 2023, and is subject to regulatory approvals.
The statement explained that Adenowo, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic vision and a deep understanding of the global financial landscape, brings a wealth of experience, built by a proven track record of success in the banking industry across several countries.
Before his appointment, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria.

Adenowo started his career at Deloitte Nigeria, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991.
He became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in 2003 and received a Distinguished Alumnus award from Deloitte Nigeria in 2015. He is an alumnus of INSEAD and Said Business School, Oxford University, where he underwent management training in Leadership.
