Lagos State Police, Sasha Area Command, yesterday, foiled a robbery attempt by five men in a white Hilux vehicle and two others on a motorbike in Shasha, Alimosho Local Council of the state.

The gang had stormed the area at around about 2.00 p.m. However, prompt response by police operatives had thwarted the operation.
It was gathered that the gang evaded arrest.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Shasha confirmed the incident.

When The Guardian demanded further details, the DPO directed enquiries to spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who did not respond to questions.

Meanwhile, some residents in Demurin, in the Mile 12 area of Lagos, had a narrow escape when a truck laden with a 40-feet container fell on the road. The incident led to several hours of gridlock.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LATSMA) said the vehicle experienced a brake failure and crashed on the busy road.

“A 40-feet containerised trailer had a brake failure at Demurin, inwards Mile 12, and it has blocked the service lane and BRT corridor. Only the main carriageway is available for vehicular movement at the moment,” spokesperson of the agency, Adebayo Taofiq, said.
