Leaders of opposition political parties, yesterday, met in Abuja to assess the state of the nation, declaring that most policies of the President Bola Tinubu administration since assuming office had no human face.

While accusing the government of weaponsing poverty, they described the budget presented by the President as theoretical, stating that the document was not tailored towards improving the lives of Nigerians.

The meeting, which held at the national secretariat of Social Democratic Party (SDP) was attended by acting national secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Setonji Koseodo, acting national chairman of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Abba Kawu Ali, National Chairman, Allied People’s Movement (APM), Yusuf Dantalle, National Secretary and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Yahaya Makam.

Others were National Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralphs Nwosu and National Publicity Secretary of Young Progressives Party (YPP), Egbeola Martin.

Speaking on behalf of others, SDP’s National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, maintained that the current administration must adjust some of its policies and programmes for the citizens to breathe.

According to him, the opposition parties have a greater responsibility to ensure that there is a conducive and peaceful environment for the country to move on, adding that that it would amount to abdication of duties if they remain silent.

He said: “As patriotic citizens, we want to call the attention of the government to adjust some of the policies and programmes that have no human face. The policies must be converted to human face policies so that citizens can be relieved and have a space to breath. We don’t want any anarchy and lawlessness in the country. We have identified about seven points.”
