Nigerian superstar Tems, fresh off her Oscar nomination for “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” has spoken out about the intense online harassment she faced following rumors of her pregnancy with rapper Future. In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, Tems revealed the shocking extent of the abuse, including death threats and accusations that defied logic.

The rumors, which circulated earlier this year, sparked widespread discussion and speculation. However, Tems opted to remain silent until now, choosing to prioritize her mental health and focus on her music. Now, she has chosen to address the situation head-on, detailing the harmful impact of the online harassment.
“It was a very difficult time for me,” she shared. “The constant negativity and hurtful comments, especially the death threats, were overwhelming and deeply upsetting.”
Tems particularly addressed the absurdity of some of the accusations, highlighting the lack of evidence and the blatant disregard for her personal life. “Several people filled my DMs with threatening comments,” she stated. “They questioned my decision to allow Future to ‘allegedly impregnate’ me. It’s crazy. I have never met him in my life.”
