Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has urged the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to address the concerns of Northerners in his state over alleged marginalisation and inequitable distribution of goods and services.
Also demanding fair representation of Northerners in his government, the group pointed out that failure to address the concerns might have significant political consequences in future elections in the state and country at large.
President General of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, in a statement, yesterday, warned that the Northern population in Lagos would reject any candidate with tribal extremist views or any person remotely connected to him in the 2027 elections.
He said: “The Northerners trusted Sanwo-Olu’s campaign promises and pledges, supported and invested heavily in his candidacy, which led to a significant majority of votes in his favour. However, these promises have turned out to be mere lies and deceptions.”
“Northerner, who played a significant role in Sanwo-Olu’s victory, are ultimately marginalised, betrayed and let down by the administration. One of the key issues raised by the AYCF is the bias in appointments and patronage.”
