Police in Jigawa nab two for armed robbery

Operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers on the command’s wanted list. The Command’s Assistant Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Isah, disclosed this in a statement at the weekend.

Isah said the two suspects were trailed and subsequently arrested on December 12, 2023, in Kano State. The command identified the suspects as Yusuf Yusuf (25) of Katoge quarters, Kazaure Local Council and Umar Abubakar (23) from Dakayyawa village, Kaugama Local Council.
 
He said: “On July 19, 2023, at about 02:30 hours, a distress call was received at Dutse Division that hoodlums with weapons, numbering about five, trespassed into the house of one Sunusi Hudu ‘m’ of G9 quarters Dutse Local Council, beat him up and robbed him of one black Honda Accord 2011 model, two plasma televisions, one HP laptop computer and one Redmi Note 11pro phone.

“Fortunately, on October 18, 2023, following a tip-off by the investigative team of State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, one Umar Abubakar ‘m’, age 28 years, of Bompai Miller Road, Kano State, Yakubu Mohammed ‘m’, age 24 years, and Zakariyya Dahiru ‘m’, age 28 years, both of Yalleman town of Kaugama Local Council, were arrested in connection with the offence.

“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime,” he said. The command said the suspects will be arraigned in court.
