
Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, has said that the agency has made it a priority to always officers and men of the agency that have displayed gallantry and outstanding commitment in the discharge of their duties.
He stated this at an award night and end of year get together of staff and of the service, weekend in Abuja.
Nababa while admonishing officers to never lose sight of their service to their motherland, pointed that event is also to appreciate officers for holding forth and braving the challenges though the year 2023.
“As a service, we are committed to fostering a system that is efficient and sustainable towards improving public safety and national security in general. In order to achieve this, the officers and men who form the fulcrum of our human resources, is paramount. Hence, we are committed towards improving their capacity as well as their welfare; and this event is one of the arrays of programmes we have instituted for this purpose.
“This event therefore is to appreciate officers and men of the Service for working hard in 2023, and to prepare them for more work in the coming year 2024. We will continue to celebrate and reward personnel who display excellence, hardwork and diligence as this will enhance their morale, and also serve as a wake-up call to those who are not living up to expectation as regads their duties and responsibilities.
“I use this medium to appreciate all officers and men of the Service for putting in their best in 2023. I enjoin you to continue to support the management towards making this Service great. I also use this medium to appreciate our retired Controllers General of Corrections who graced this occasion. We are happy to have you in our midst and I most humbly and warmly welcome you all,” he said.
The CG adds that This year will remain memorable for the Service as we strive to meet our general mandates of ensuring water-tight security in and around correctional facilities, and ensuring that inmates are properly rehabilitated and reformed for proper reintegration.
Describing the ward as an exceptional honor, former Acting Comptroller General of the NCoS, John Mrabure, who spoke on behalf of other award of excellence recipients, encouraged officers to always find the opportunity to celebrate as a family.
