***Urges Nigerians to demand answers on inflation, insecurity, poverty

The Peter Obi Media Office has accused the ruling establishment of deliberately steering public discourse away from Nigeria’s worsening economic and security challenges by amplifying what it described as trivial political controversies.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesman, Idris Zekeri Jnr, the media office said recent reactions to Obi’s television interview reflected a coordinated effort by political operatives and the government’s propaganda machinery to distract Nigerians from the country’s deepening governance crisis.

According to the statement, rather than engage the substance of Obi’s proposals for addressing Nigeria’s economic decline and governance challenges, critics had chosen to “weaponise minor slips, cherry-pick narratives and elevate non-issues over critical national debate.”

The office maintained that millions of Nigerians were grappling with hyperinflation, food insecurity, rising energy costs, unemployment and insecurity, yet national attention was being diverted from these pressing concerns.

It described the trend as a calculated strategy to keep citizens distracted from demanding accountability from those in government.
“The debate Nigeria desperately needs today is not about political drama or deliberate semantic distortions; it is about how to rescue a failing economy, restore the purchasing power of the naira, secure innocent lives, and transition our nation from a consumption-driven economy to a productive powerhouse,” the statement read.

The Obi Media Office said the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement would not be drawn into what it termed “the gutter of trivial controversies” orchestrated by those responsible for the nation’s current challenges.

Calling on journalists and the public to remain vigilant, the office urged Nigerians—particularly young people—to redirect public conversations toward issues of governance and accountability.

It challenged the government to provide clear answers on measures to curb food inflation, secure farms and highways, and lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.

Reaffirming Obi’s commitment to what it described as a new Nigeria founded on competence, character, transparency and practical solutions, the media office insisted that no campaign of distraction or smear would deter him from speaking on issues affecting Nigerians.

It urged citizens to remain focused on the country’s economic and governance challenges, insisting that meaningful national progress would only come through sustained public attention to the issues that directly affect people’s lives.
