A devotee of Eledumare Ministry, Owolabi Salis, has called for the need to celebrate Soul Day from December 25 to 27 as against Christmas Day on December 25.
Salis, in a press statement, urged religious faithful across the world to stop the celebration of Christmas, saying the practice originated from the ancient Roman pagan culture where the people celebrated Saturnalia god of agriculture and the birth of Mithra, a sun god.
He said the Xmas tree and Santa Claus are both products of idol worship and urged all religious faithful to celebrate Soul Day from December 25 to 27 every year for God to enrich their souls.
He said: “The best way for a well-spirited soul is to worship the Lord God Almighty and not idols, stones, woods or human beings. Whosoever worships idols, stones, woods or human beings does not deserve to live because you submit your soul to whatever you worship. The owner of your soul is not the idols, but Eledumare, the Lord God Almighty. He is the Commander-in-Chief of your life or soul; He gives it and can take it at anytime.
“When we say Eledumare, we mean the Lord God Almighty. The Soul maker and taker, the Holy of Holies, the Lord of Diversity and the ruler of the Universe. Different cultures have different names for Him and you are free to reference your cultural name. When Jesus Christ was alive, he worshiped Eledumare, the Lord God Almighty and never worshiped idols, stones, woods or human beings. Jesus submitted his soul to Eledumare, the Lord God Almighty. A good Christian should behave like Jesus Christ by worshiping Eledumare, the Lord God Almighty.”
Citing Exodus 20:3 which says, ‘thou shalt have no other god before me in and Leviticus 26:1: ‘ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall you set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God,’ Salis observed that Jesus followed the commandments of God as it was laid down.
He said: “The Jews regarded Christians as idol worshipers because they make idol or graven images of Jesus, Mary and some others saints and pray before them. If you are a Christian and you pray before the statue of Jesus or Mary, you are an idol worshiper. Jesus did not do that.
“Instead of celebrating Christmas, you are to celebrate Soul Day from Dec 25 night to 27 of every year. On these days, you pray and offer thanksgiving to your Creator, Eledumare, the Lord God Almighty, for keeping your soul alive and to enrich your soul for guidance and spiritual stability. Why? Because your Creator, Eledumare, is the owner of your soul and is the only one you should worship.”
Explaining what is expected of people to during three days, Salis said, “People should celebrate with their family and friends, offer thanksgiving feast and create happy moments. You are to hold short vigil prayers for the repose of the souls of your ancestors on December 25 night because you will one day be celebrated as an ancestor. Do not abandon your ancestors. Whosoever abandons his or her ancestors can never grow spiritually.”
“ Eledumare (God Almighty) is the Lord of diversity. He created everything in diversity including human beings; therefore, you need to respect diversity for spiritual stability and free yourself from stories of men and imposed bondages. Eledumare (God Almighty) is the owner of your soul and that soul lives in your heart, which supports your head and other parts of your body. You need to offer Thanksgiving to Him for keeping you alive and asked Him to enrich your soul.”
