We bridge contemporary design with artisanal sensibility – fashion designer, Faith Oluwajimi
Bloke, a revolutionary label founded by precocious and award-winning designer, Faith Oluwajimi in 2015, is making waves by seamlessly merging contemporary design with artisanal sensibilities.
Oluwajimi, a self-taught designer, creative director, and artist, has embarked on a journey of self-exploration, creating ethically made garments that champion inclusivity and collaboration.
BLOKE operates on a sustainable business model, setting itself apart by merging contemporary design with artisanal sensibilities. The label also offer a distinctive range of garments, objects, and curated experiences, available for order online or through select stockists.
Oluwajimi’s stellar achievements include a nomination to The Future Awards Africa Prize for Fashion in 2020, a collaborative collection with Italian Label VITELLI showcased at Milan Fashion Week in 2021, and a solo debut at Milan Fashion Week with BLOKE AW21 collection. The list of accolades extends to a prestigious invitation to the United States of America International Visitor Leadership Programme, a United Kingdom Global Talent Visa Endorsement for Fashion Design, and a nomination for The Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy Prize in 2023.
In a recent press engagement, the designer noted that his brand is actively contributing to the improvement of Nigerian and African lives by collaborating with artisanal workshops in Nigeria. “At BLOKE, our commitment to sustaining local craftsmanship is evident. Moreso, we’ve heightened efforts to open a production factory in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, which will serve as our production headquarters,” Oluwajimi said.
He added that first project from the endeavour will be available for sale in February, 2024.
Looking ahead, Faith Oluwajimi envisions his brand being “made in my homeland, sold and worn around the world.” The establishment of a production factory in Ijebu Ode is a strategic move to continue the label’s success while honouring the vision of community upliftment through commerce and industry, inspired by hometown predecessor, Chief Timothy Adeola Odutola.
