Activating your God given vision

Lawrence Achudume

It is the heart of God that our lives as believers should count and be of utmost importance to us. It is also His will for us to be in charge.

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth,” Genesis1:28.

As believers, the importance of vision in our lives cannot be overemphasised. Our God given vision is our ordained dream on earth; the purpose for which we exist. Without vision life is meaningless. Proverbs 29:18a says: “Where there is no vision the people perish.” Vision is the journey between the present and the future. You will live life on purpose when you have a clear picture of where you are going.

However, it is not enough to just have a vision; a lot of people have died with their dreams unfulfilled. They lived below the standard of God’s purpose for their lives.

Having a vision is like being pregnant with a baby, no matter your status or capacity; you can’t just wish the baby into being, and there are mandatory processes that you and the baby must pass through before it is birthed. In the same way, your purpose in life cannot be wished into existence. During the gestation period, there are certain foods you must eat, certain things you must do or not do in order not to affect the proper development of the child. The child is still hidden from the world because he has to develop the nature and life that functions on earth; sight, hearing, movement, respiratory and digestive systems and so on.

The stage of carrying your vision or nurturing your vision is very crucial. Many ignore this because it is not as pronounce as when the vision is out.

However, a premature baby will still need to be incubated and monitored properly to ensure that he can function and live the way he was designed to live. Your vision must be well structured and developed before you expose it. Whatever happens to a baby in the womb determines how he will come out.

You need to stay with God and the ordained men He has sent to you to nurture that dream and prepare for its explosion. You need to embrace your relationship with God like never before, dwell on His word, meditate daily and envelop it all in prayer. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success,” Joshua 1:8. The word of God is life and it is a blueprint for every believer. You are guaranteed prosperity and good success when you do according to His will.

In this stage you do not see the baby, but you have evidence that something is growing inside of you and so in birthing visions you must believe that God is set to do marvel with your life. Without faith we cannot even be believers. Faith is our very foundation and so you need faith to activate your God given vision. Conceiving the vision is germane to activating it, you cannot activate what you do not believe in. A lot of dreams have died in this stage even before they are birthed.

When a baby reaches full maturity, expectations begin to rise. Not only for the mother, but also those around her will be curious to see the baby. The birthing process is very painful; it breaks you down and uses up your strength. It is a period when you almost give up on that dream. There are natural processes that you do not control such as the dilation and contraction, but you also need to push that baby out. The good news is that you are blessed because God wants to join hands with you in birthing that vision. He is a God of partnership, He will give you His strength, wisdom, knowledge and grace; including your faith, hope, determination and prayers to ensure that that dream becomes a reality, (John 16:21).

You also have to be spiritually sensitive when your vision is birthed. Don’t expose your gifts unnecessarily, especially when it is not mature. Listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let Him guide you through your journey. In Matthew 2:2, the wise men referred to Jesus as the King of the Jews even though He was a child. You need to know that the enemy of your vision will not just attack you based on what you are at that moment, but based on the knowledge of what you are going to become in the future. So, they set out to kill that vision and frustrate your faith in it. You do not need to be moved or doubt what God has given you. The fact that you are under attack is a major proof that God is set to do marvellous things in your life.

Joseph was instructed to flee with Mary and baby Jesus to Egypt and there they stayed until it was time to move. Don’t brag with God’s instruction. Yes! He has the power to bring you out of every situation, but never disobey His commands.

In essence, a peculiar part of vision is process. And so understanding this process is a major key to activating your vision.
