Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, flagged off distribution of truckloads of rice donated to members of the Southeast zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

The donation was a personal donation made by the President to CAN in the five South East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo, as part of Christmas and palliative gift item to cushion the biting effects of the economic hardship occasioned by economic reforms by the current administration.

Uzodimma noted that the President took bold reform steps “to recover our economy and reduce the hardship in the country, strengthen the naira, grow our economy, create jobs for the unemployed and generally make Nigeria great again.”

Handing over the trucks of rice to the Imo State Chairman of CAN, Rev. Eches Divine Eches, at the Owerri Secretariat, the governor urged the CAN members to pray fervently for Tinubu and the success of his administration.

According to him, the President took the decision to distribute bags of rice to CAN during the festive season because the zone is predominantly Christians.

He said that the policies introduced by the President was to make the economy better, followed by the ambitious 2024 budget, which had not been done before, expressing optimism that 2024 would give hope and respite to Nigerians.
