Enugu community seeks govt’s intervention in infrastructure, security

Obimo community in Lagos (OCL), has called on Enugu State government to intervene in the infrastructural development, insecurity, lack of health care centre, lack of potable water and other challenges facing Obimo community.

The community, originally from Nsukka in Enugu State, acknowledged the challenges the villagers were facing and emphasised the need for government’s intervention.

Speaking at the inaugural gathering of OCL, the newly elected Chairman, Gabriel Onyeisi, highlighted the group’s contributions to development in the community in Enugu.

Onyeisi said: “We have helped in the educational development of the community, donated books, organised different educational competitions, and raised funds to support the security status of the community as well.”

“We have challenges concerning road, electricity, water, and security. We are pleading to the government to come to our aid,” he stated.

In a bid to foster unity and address communal challenges, Onyeisi pledged to improve development for the community.

The group has been committed to supporting its members both in Lagos and back home in Enugu, emphasized the importance of unity among Obimo indigenes in Lagos.

He stated, “We make it a must for us to come together and unite to discuss basic things going on in our community here in Lagos. We have been doing well with this gathering, supporting ourselves here in Lagos and down in our community in the village.”

Also the newly appointed Vice Chairman, Godwin Ugwoke, emphasized the pressing need for infrastructural support.

“We need the state government to repair the road, and one of the big challenges Obimo community is facing is water. There is no good water in the community,” he lamented.

Mr. Ugwoke also addressed the issue of healthcare, pointing out the lack of a functional hospital in the community. “The only health center we have is not functioning well. We are appealing to the government to come to our rescue,” he urged.

As the newly elected leadership sets its sights on addressing these pressing issues, the Obimo Community in Lagos remains hopeful for a brighter future with increased government support.
