• 2,400 vulnerable to get one year free health insurance plan
• All beneficiaries to get free drugs for one month
Lagos State Government has kicked off a free medical outreach aimed at providing essential healthcare services to 25,000 residents across 24 locations in the state.
Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Health, Kemi Ogunyemi, who spoke, yesterday, at one of the 24 locations, the Campos Memorial Mini Stadium, said that the free medical treatment was being done simultaneously in all the six health districts in the state, with each district having four locations.
She said that all the beneficiaries would have access to free check-ups and treatments, including blood sugar and blood pressure checks, HIV counselling and testing, eye examinations and free glasses just as there would also be the treatment of minor ailments, free medications, and health insurance and LASRRA registration.
Ogunyemi said that following Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive on how to cushion the effect of the economic hardship, the Ministry of Health came up with Alafia Eko medical outreach.
She added that the goal was to attend to at least 1,000 residents across the 24 locations in the six districts.
On his part, Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Olusegun Ogboye, said that the governor also directed that 100 vulnerable residents each across the 24 locations should get a one-year free health insurance policy.
He added that all the beneficiaries would get free drugs for one month, reason in two weeks, they would go to the PHC closest to them to get additional drugs.
Ogboye further said that the second medical outreach would commence on June 6, 2024, and that the programme would cover six health districts with specific locations.
Ogboye listed the locations to include Health District 1: Egbe Idimu (Alimosho LGA), Ifako-Ijaiye LGA Secretariat, Ipaja PHC (Alimosho LGA), Agege Legislative Complex.
“Health District 2: Kosofe LGA (Papa area, Oworo), Bariga LCDA (Pedro), Ikorodu West LCDA Secretariat, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA (Alapere).
“Health District 3: Epe Recreation, Iberekodo Primary School (Ibeju-Lekki LGA), Ikota Primary School (Eti-Osa LGA), Resettlement area (Araromi community, Eti-Osa East LCDA).
“Health District 4: Evans Square (Ebute-Metta), Mini Campos Stadium (Lagos Island), Astroturf Stadium (Apapa), Aguda Praying Ground (Surulere).
Health District 5: FHA Grounds (Festac Town, Amuwo-Odofin (LGA), Ojo LGA Secretariat, Suntan Beach (Badagry West LCDA), AjeromiIfelodun LGA Secretariat.
Health District 6: Methodist Primary School (Oshodi), Egigbo Market, Bishop Aggrey Place (Mushin) and Ikeja Under Bridge.
